Honeymoon Heaven pt. 1

Amidst the chaos of 2020, we weren’t sure if we’d actually get to have a honeymoon—at least the one we wanted. BUT, we were very blessed to still make some version of it happen. Brad and I joke almost everyday how we want to go back right now. We seriously couldn’t have asked for a better experience.

The honeymoon was Brad’s responsibility to plan and I was the boss of the wedding plans. And being the 1 he is (on the enneagram), he went above and beyond to make it perfect. Since we only get one of these, we decided we wanted to go all out and make it a 2 week, 2 part trip. Our original plan was to start in Los Cabos and spend a week relaxing, and then fly up to Napa and spend 3 days adventuring in wine country. As things got weird, we knew we were going to have to be open to “pivoting. But luckily, part one’s plans stuck. (I’ll share more about our part two pivot soon.)

We had done a lot of research, comparing several resorts, and we finally landed on Esperanza in Los Cabos. And let’s just say, we chose wisely—haha! From the moment we booked with them, they went above and beyond to help us plan any activities and answer any questions. Brad called almost everyday the month leading up to it to make sure they were still open and there were still things available to do. Thankfully, they were welcoming us with open arms. They were only at 40% capacity, which honestly made the experience that much better.

We knew we were going to have a hard time leaving when they greeted us with Margarita’s the moment we got out of our car. And being honeymooners, they gave us the best room in the resort—private ocean view.

We only drove off the resort one night to go to Flora Farms. We had several friends rave about this place, and they didn’t let us down. It was definitely THE BEST meal we had the entire trip. It’s a farm to table restaurant so everything you eat comes straight from the farm there. We were warned that the portion sizes were very large… we didn’t believe them until they brought out a pork shank the size of Brad’s head.

If you go to Cabo, this place is a MUST.

Esperanza provided several different activities, one of which was a catamaran ride to see the famous arch and go snorkling. Unfortunately, because of the hurricane that hit a few days before, the waters were too rough to get in and see anything. So we just enjoyed the views… well for a few minutes. Sadly, I also got seasick the entire time and it was pretty hysterical—for Brad. You’ll find a beautiful picture of me doing everything in my power NOT to throw up.

We truly couldn’t have asked for a better place to honeymoon. I know a lot of people have had to postpone or change their plans due to the pandemic, but if you need a place to pivot to, I highly recommend this place. They were very safe conscious of the times and the staff always wore masks.
